The School of Visual Arts (SVA) is proud to offer the New York Reality TV School every Tuesday, 6-8:30pm, September 21 thru October 19, (course details at http://www.tinyurl.com/svareality).

This 5 week workshop features guest lectures with 4 time Emmy Winning Producer (“Dr. OZ”) and creator of TLC’s “DC Cupcakes” Terence Noonan, Casting Producer Vinnie Potestivo (“The Hills”, “Millionaire Match Maker”, “Laguna Beach”, “Real World Road Rules”) and cast-mates from “Survivor”, “The Mole”, “Amazing Race”, “Bad Girls” and more. Robert Galinsky’s students have had success landing work on such shows as: Matchmaker Millionaire (Bravo), Money Hungry (VH1), The Fashion Show (Bravo), Groomer Has It (Animal Planet), Hole in the Wall (FOX) and Robert continues to work with reality hopefuls across the country.

Voted one of the “Top Ten Coolest Classes in New York City” by Time Out Magazine and one of “America’s Coolest Classes” by YellowPages.com, this workshop offers similar challenges, obstacles, conflicts and camaraderie building found on reality TV shows. Students work along side master teacher Robert Galinsky and guest reality veterans from such shows as: Survivor, Hell’s Kitchen, Amazing Race & more. We explore what makes for an outstanding personality on TV and the rugged road of being on a show. Students will also have the opportunity to sit in on “Robert Galinsky’s Reality Wanted” on CBS Digital.

Main themes include: Casting, Knowing Your Story, Confidence Building, Reality Conflict, and Camera-Work. The primary goal is to get students to complete a self-assessment and decide what works and what doesn’t for reality TV to effectively communicate their personalities and achieve their goals on reality TV.

About Robert: Robert Galinsky is the founder and “Principal” of the New York Reality TV School and host of CBS Digital’s “Robert Galinsky’s Reality Wanted”. An innovator in experiential learning techniques, Galinsky appreciates the connections and similarities between succeeding in the entertainment business and winning within the newly emerging reality TV market. He created the New York Reality TV School and its programs as a means to share his knowledge and training principals with individuals, organizations, would-be television contestants and media outlets. RealityWanted.com and the New York Reality TV School have joined forces to produce “RobertGalinsky’s RealityWanted”, an online radio show featuring all things reality TV. Hosted by the founder and “Principal” of the New York Reality TV School, with guest co-host 4 time Emmy winner Terence Noonan. Episode 29, on “Robert Galinsky’s Reality Wanted”, talk of the hour was TV personality; what’s needed to stand out and become the next TV star? Robert Galinsky, the founder and Principal of the New York Reality TV School http://www.newyorkrealitytvschool.com gave his must-haves to TV personalities which included confidence, authenticity, and knowing your specific story and making sure that story gets told. David Carlos, a student from Robert Galinsky’s Reality school, called in fresh from the set of the Bravo hit show, Millionaire Matchmaker. He was cast and shot on Wednesday and we got a first hand account of his experience on set!

Guests included the “Off-beats” of Big Brother 11, Kevin Campbell and Lydia Tavera. The “Besties” called in at the top of the hour with what made them stick out on Big Brother. “Gold-Star” Kevin mentioned that his sexuality was a major part of his story and helped him have a dominate personality on the show while “Tattooed off-beat” Lydia said her craziness and confidence was her stand out personality trait that helped lead her to the finals. Terence Noonan Supervising Producer of Dr. Oz and Producer of TLC’s DC Cupcakes also called in to continue with the night’s theme of what makes a TV Personality. To end off the hour, Cody-Ann Palmer of the New York Reality TV School gave a critique update on Oprah Winfrey’s new OWN network contest. Cody-Ann pointed out that one of the more popular pitches, The Classroom Closet from Dr. Phillis, had one thing all reality shows need, “Reality Ability”, the authenticity and ability to be real.

Geo Geller of the http://www.140conf.com opened up the second hour of the show and spoke about the efficiency of writing in 140 characters, followed by Randy Bernstein of CastingDuo.com who did an on-air audition with Alicia Nieves. Randy pointed out what he liked about her answers and why he would choose to send her to another round of interviews.
